• Act as an educational and practical training ground for those students who are interested in pursuing radio as a career
• Entertain and Inform our audience through innovative and consistent music and non-music programming
• Serve the DePaul community by promoting University services, events, and activities

Eligibility for Participation

• Only full-time students in good academic standing (2.5 GPA or higher) at DePaul are eligible for FULL membership in Radio DePaul.
• University faculty members, staff and members of the community also shall be eligible for ASSOCIATE membership through petition to the Student Advisory Committee.
• Membership constitutes active participation in the organization.
• Radio DePaul shall not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual preference, disabilities, national origin, religious affiliation, or beliefs.

Rights and Privileges of Membership

• The number of persons who may be members of Radio DePaul may be limited depending on the availability of on or off-air positions.
• Only FULL members of the organization shall be eligible to hold management positions.

• Why doesn’t Radio DePaul have an FM license?
• Due to the high concentration of broadcast stations in Chicago, Radio DePaul has not been able to obtain an FM license. We don’t expect the situation to change.
• Where is Radio DePaul? Can I stop by?
• We are located in the basement of University Hall. For security reasons, you cannot just stop by Radio DePaul. Please make an appointment. Radio DePaul does offer tours. All requests must be submitted in writing at least one week prior to your preferred tour date. All tour requests should be sent directly to the General Manager.
• Do I have to be a Communication major to work at Radio DePaul?
• Absolutely not. Radio DePaul has an extensive training program and we encourage all members of the DePaul community to apply.
• Do you offer internships at Radio DePaul?
• We do not offer internships per se. That being said, students can earn practicum credit for their work at the station. Email the Operations Manager to learn more.
• What language or content restrictions will I have to abide by if I’m hired?
• We operate under the same rules and restrictions as commercial radio stations. Please reference the Radio DePaul constitution for further clarification.
• Why do some people refer to the station as WRDP and others refer to it as Radio DePaul, which is it?
• More than 20 years ago the radio station used the call letters WDPU. In the late 1980s, the University was on the verge of shutting the station down due to a general lack of focus on the part of station staff and ambivalence on the part of listeners. The University decided to move the station from the control of Student Life to that of the newly formed Communication Department. This move brought a renewed focus to the station under the direction of Professor Jill O’Brien. Around this time the station was rechristened WRDP. Over the years, the radio station has been heard on low power AM and the University’s cable system. In consideration of the fact that the station does not have a broadcast license we have tried to move away from the WRDP call letters and simply be known as Radio DePaul. Today, Radio DePaul can be heard at radio.depaul.edu and iTunes radio and boasts a number of national college radio production nominations and awards.
